Ron McAllister
I have always been a campaigner, whether raising funds to send fellow students to Mexico on summer service projects when I was in college, picketing at a segregated country club in North Carolina when I was in graduate school, co-founding an inter-faith peace conference when I lived in Massachusetts, demonstrating in Northern Ireland at a church under siege from a sectarian mob, or advocating in the political campaigns of others.
My Promise: to be a thoughtful, collaborative and energetic presence in the state Legislature; a representative of whom York can be proud.
November is Crucial
Now I am launching a campaign of my own - a campaign to win a seat in the Maine House of Representatives. I am seeking to turn a personal impulse for doing good into public service on behalf of the Town of York and the State of Maine. The November election will be a crucial one. At the national level we will be electing a new president and vice president and here in Maine we will see a new wave of change in the state Senate and the House of Representatives. Help keep Maine elections fair by supporting me, and other Clean Election candidates. For more information, or to make a $5 Clean Elections donation visit the Maine Comission on Governmental Ethics & Election Practices.
"Experience has taught me that there is more wisdom between us than there is within us. Therefore, I believe it is imperative for elected officials to know what matters most to the people in their districts - regardless of political affiliation."
Who I Am
I am a retired college professor, married since 1968, father of six sons, and a grandfather.
What I Believe
I believe that everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for health and well-being, including food, clothing, housing, medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood.
What I Have Learned
Experience has shown me that wisdom is more often found between us than within us and that no one party has a monopoly on intelligence.

Chair of the York Parks and Recreation Board, Member of the Board of the Community Wellness Coalition, Member of the Board of the York Diversity Forum, and a Member of the York County Prevention Collaborative
